If you want to make money on the internet but don’t know where to begin, this blog is for you. Even if you’ve been a blogger for a while or have a website and want to know how you can better monetize it, you may be able to pick up a couple of things here as well.
First off, your blog or website should be something that you are passionate about or have some knowledge about. Whatever niche you pick, make sure you write engaging content that will get people thinking or will inspire them. This is the main foundation to creating passive internet income
Make money with affiliate programs
After you’ve chosen your niche, you can search for affiliate programs to promote products in your niche. If no affiliate programs exists, then search for affiliate programs of products or services that are related.
For example, if you have a website or blog about basketball where you talk about the NBA, your opinions about the players and how they played, recaps of the games, and your predictions for the upcoming season, you can promote basketball merchandise where you get paid a commission if you refer a user to another website that sells the merchandise and they decide to make purchases. You will add these affiliate links to your website and when the user clicks on it, a “cookie” is stored on their computer and when they purchase the items, the company selling the merchandise will be able to track that the user came from your site and they will know who to pay the commissions to.
Cost Per Action (CPA) is a type of affiliate program that will pay you a bounty for every “lead” that you send over.
For example, if you tell people to click a link that sends them to another website and they end up signing up for free on that website (usually just entering their email), you will be paid for every person that you referred over to them (if those people submitted their emails).
Make money selling advertising space on your blog
Once your blog or website has built up some good traffic, you can start selling advertising space to people or companies within the same niche as yours. For example a small banner on your side bar can be sold for $25-$100’s each month. The more traffic your website gets, the more you can charge each month. Also, the bigger the banner, the more you can charge as well.
You can also sell text links for a little less than what you would sell banner space for.
Make money selling sponsored blog posts
Since traffic is everything when it comes to making money online, focusing on great quality content should always be your goal.
Another way to make money with your website is selling sponsored posts. Website owners and other bloggers within the same niche as you would may want to write a guest post on your blog that your users will find interesting with the hope that your users and regular visitors will become regular visitors of their website.
You can set any price you want for a sponsored guest post.
For example, you can say “The cost for a sponsored post on this website is $125 for a permanent article of up to 300 words and one or two links linking back to your website.”
You can set whatever price or terms you want. Just make sure the content of the post and website that is being linked is somewhat related to your niche or it may look a little spammy to your users.
Make money with Google Adsense
By far the most popular way to make money on your blog is by putting up advertisements and sponsored links supplied by Google Adsense. The concept is very simple. When your users click on the Google Ads that are plastered all over your website, you will be paid every time someone clicks on one of the ads. The clicks will be totaled each month and you will be paid at the end of the following month.
The price you will be paid per click mostly depends on your niche. For example, blogs and websites that are catered to anything related to finance, lawyers, insurance, loans, etc… can see a higher payout per click as opposed to blogs and websites that are related to travel, toys, clothes, etc…
Regardless of the amount that you can get paid per click, remember that Google Adsense is just one way of monetizing your website.

*WARNING* A word about fraudulent clicks with Google Adsense. Since Google Adsense is the best and easiest way to monetize our blog or website, you must absolutely abide by their terms and policies. Google STRICTLY forbids any fraudulent click activity. You should NEVEREVER click on your own ads or encourage anyone else to click on them either. Google’s click fraud department closely tracks their ads and clicking activity and anything even close to being suspicious can cause your account to be banned.
Content is still king
Again, I just want to impress upon you that your focus should still be to write great content in something that you are passionate about or have great knowledge in. Focusing on this will make you and your website an authority on whatever niche you are in.
Once you have great traffic coming in each month, you can use a combination of all of the above techniques to monetize your blog or website.
If you’ve got another way to monetize your site that I haven’t mentioned here, please let me know what it is and how it’s working for you!
