Begin With the End in Mind

By |

In his best selling book “The 7 Habits to Highly Effective People” author Stephen Covey emphasizes how important to begin with the end in mind.

To sum it up, before you set out to do something, know exactly what it is you want to achieve.

I can’t stress hard enough how important it is to get into the habit of doing this. Your frame of mind should alway be to focus on your end result before you start anything. It is absolutely imperative for you to always be clear on your vision.

An example of this is building a home. The architects design and plan it out on a blue print before they pour the foundation and start building.

This is exactly what you need to do before you start. Plan it.

begin with the end in mind passive internet income

Let’s relate that example to creating passive internet income.

If your goal is to make $5,000 a in pure passive internet income that will pay all of your rent/mortgage and all of your bills and give a lot of extra money each month to do as you wish, then now your path to get there can be defined more easily than not having a goal.

The goal to earn, at the very least, $5,000 a month is your objective. You now have the “end result in mind.”

You must now plan out your passive internet income streams on how you will reach your objective.

You can build one website with the intention of earning at least $5,000 a month.

You can build five websites on different topics with the intention of earning at least $1,000 a month on each site.

See what I’m getting at?

It’s much easier to work backwards so always make it a habit to “Begin with the end in mind.”

Working backwards will clarify your paths to your ultimate objectives. The reason this is important is that it allows you to streamline your focus.

Along the way, on your journey to achieving your goals, you may be presented with many other unexpected opportunities that may be very distracting to you. You may not know it at the time, but in hindsight you’ll later see how it took you off course.

Having finite goals will help you stay laser focused on every step you need to take to succeed at achieving your goals and dreams.

This technique is also used by many writers when penning a novel or screenplay or what not. They start from how the story ends, then they have a clearer picture on their “hero’s journey.”

Likewise, you must do the same and begin with the end in mind.
