Passive internet income can be described as simply as this-
“Making money from the internet while you are sleeping.”
Got that? When people ask me what I do for a living, I have a hard time explaining it to them because because they’ve most likely never met anyone that makes an actual living doing what I do.
Sure, they may have heard or read stories on people that make a living blogging or what not, but they’ve most likely never met anyone who actually live off of their web properties passively.
Now, for clarification purposes, I am not a blogger.
There are lots of examples of people who make a great living by blogging, but as for me, I myself do not make my living as a blogger.
Why? Because, I’m lazy…I guess:).
Blogging requires constant updates and lots of interaction with your readers. The basic blogging model goes like this- The more blogging you do with constant interaction with your readers, the larger your readership grows- the more money you will make from ads and or products you are promoting through your blog. You will also be building an email list of your loyal followers who want your updates and any tips or products that you will be promoting to them by way of email.
That’s the core of a blogging business model. Blogging does require work and constant interaction with your readership, albeit from the comfort of your home or coffee shop, but it’s still work.
That’s not me. I want freedom. Freedom to not have to depend on “work” to make a living.
Also, it’s extremely important to build an opt-in email list. When people visit your site, you need to do everything you can to get them to sign up for your email list.
This email list is extremely important and you will learn how to make thousands of dollars by marketing to your email list(s). From time to time we’ll be discussing the importance of building an email list and marketing to it.
Back to blogging. This website that you are on (HomeInternetIncome.com) IS currently set up on a blogging platform, but will be used mostly to pass on some tips and methods that I’ve learned along the way. Hopefully it is of value to those who wish to create passive streams of internet income.
Back to why my personal focus is to not make a living as a blogger.
I’ve learned to work smarter and not harder. Put the work up front, then sit back and keep getting paid=)
That leads us to…The “Set it and forget it” model.
The “Set it and forget it” formula is a little different. This requires a little more work up front and periodic updates.
It works like this- Build up a basic website and load it up with extremely helpful articles and content that will really help people, then populate your website with Google Adsense or other ads and products you’re promoting.
The information can be about anything. The “rule of thumb” for this internet business model is “find a need and fill it.”
If done right, once you’ve built up the traffic to your website, you can just forget about it and the money will keep coming in. Every now and then you’ll add new content to keep up your good search engine rankings, but it doesn’t have to be a daily/weekly/monthly thing. All depends on what you’re striving to acheive.
Are you lost? hahaha… Don’t worrry. We’ll be covering these things in more detail in other articles on this site.
For now, it’s important to understand the difference between both of these internet business models. You can build passive internet income from both of these models, but one will require for you to interact more with your readers on a regular basis.
You can do both, I ain’t mad atcha=)
